He holds advanced degrees in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies from Webster University and the University of Westminster and a BSc in Management from the University of Essex.

As the founder of So Lankan, Ranil spearheaded successful initiatives in over 20 countries. His strategic consulting has been invaluable to companies and individuals entering Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan companies expanding internationally.

At Charter House International, he introduced European brands, managed suppliers in the EU and ASEAN regions, and drove growth in the construction and engineering sectors. His strategies increased Charter House’s market share to over 80% in the premium segment, introducing brands like Laufen, Renova, and Grip to Sri Lanka and strengthening existing brands such as Grohe, VingCard, and Tokheim.

Ranil co-founded Colombo City Hostel, the first hostel chain in Sri Lanka under the Hostels Lanka brand, achieving top market performance and high customer satisfaction with a review score of over eight. His expertise in international staff recruitment, market development, business diversification, and marketing was vital to the hostel’s success.
His dedication to community service is evident through his roles at Round Table International (RTI) and Emerge Lanka. At RTI, he served in various capacities, including National Secretary, International Relations Officer, National President, and Asia Pacific Regional Chairman. As an advisory board member of Emerge Lanka, he supported educational opportunities for Sri Lankan youth, especially young women.
